JOIN US online for a series of 13 SHORT CONCERTS over 13 WEEKS featuring professional singers and pianists of HOS, past and present, as they share music that is important to them and why.

Starting SUNDAY, MAY 2nd, @3:00pmEDT each mini concert (approximately 30 minutes) will be available to enjoy in the comfort of your own home anytime during the week until the following Saturday. The next concert will be released the following Sunday @3:00pm and will be available for the following week.

Support these young professional artists by purchasing more than one viewing link. All funds will go toward performers' professional fees.

Andrew Balfour, Composer

Join Cree First Nation composer and librettist, Andrew Balfour, in an overview of his music and his inspiration. Featuring excerpts from Mishabooz's Realm, commissioned and produced by HOS in collaboration with l'Atelier lyrique de l'Opera de Montreal in 2017, and Take the Indian: A Vocal Reflection on Missing Children, created in 2015 and produced by Winnipegbased vocal group, Camerata Nova, of which Andrew is the Artistic Director.


Of Cree descent, Winnipeg based composer Andrew Balfour is an innovative composer/conductor/singer/sound designer with a large body of choral, instrumental, electro-acoustic and orchestral works. His new Indigenous Opera, Mishaboozʼs Realm, commissioned by LʼAtelier Lyrique de Opéra de Montréal and Highlands Opera Workshop, premiered in Montréal and Haliburton, Ontario. He has also been commissioned by the Winnipeg, Regina and Toronto Symphony Orchestras, among many others. Andrew specializes in creating “concept concerts”, many with Indigenous subject matter. In 2007, Andrew received the Mayor of Winnipegʼs Making a Mark Award. In 2017 he was awarded the Canadian Senate Gold Medal for artistic achievement.
